Passage Paid

Ten Thousand echoes bounce and roam
One from every mile from home
With aching heart she'd pine and long
for native lands and her home

She'd left her land far behind
came round the world to search and find
release from demons and a past
in which those demons held her fast

But passage from this place requires
A change of spirit and desires
and plans for home must be delayed
For healing is the passage paid

The echoes call her to return
Tumbling in her mind they churn
The memories of a lover gone
and family members now withdrawn

At home they will all await
To find how God will guide her fate
They know the demons hold her bound
Until her true self can be found

Home calls but healing waits
The choice is made to open gates
Cleansing her soul brings life defined
By valiant faith and light divine

This cleansing, though a gift of grace
requires courage in the face
of demons that will still entice
But she'll face them all and pay the price

A transformed life with God as source
A life directed down a course
were spirit leads and demons fade
Now home awaits with passage paid

This poem was written for me in 2000 by a fellow resident in treatment.
Unfortunately, the person who wrote this poem, did not make it, and 
died of
this disease a couple of weeks after writing this. It's a beautiful 
poem,
and wondering if you could use it, perhaps it will encourage someone.
